I keep seeing this inspirational saying and picture of this turtle all over the place.  I went to talk to a friend the other day and there was this little turtle looking me in the face again.  It made me smile because it hit home for me and I am sure so many others during this month of December where things can be so busy and we find ourselves feeling as if we can't manage it all!

It left me with something to share about this amazingly awesome turtle.  Do you realize the turtle is almost never afraid to stick its neck out to go the last mile.  No matter how slow that little creature is, he just keeps right on trucking to get where he is going.  You know what?  He gets there!  He may not get there as quickly as Jeff Gordan in his Nascar vehicle, but he gets there!  That to me is truly inspiring.

There was a time a few months back where I was so frightened over change and creating new goals for myself that I often felt frozen in fear.  Stuck and froze like a possum playing dead!  Yep, that was me!  The possum-much to scared to try to make a move.  It wasn't until going through some personal soul-searching that I took the time to learn about myself and what it was I truly wanted in my life.  This is when I became a turtle.  This is when I learned to have more respect for a turtle than probably any other creature out there.  I want to share why!

Once I began soul-searching, I learned that I had to stick my neck out and keep going forward no matter what if I truly wanted what it was that  I was looking and searching for.  Once I stuck my neck out, that was it!  I had no interest what so ever in stopping.  I just wanted to keep trudging one foot in front of the other to get where it was I was going.  I was this turtle sticking its neck out and heading to my next destination; one goal at a time.

Once I got a taste of what it was like to be a turtle, there was no going back.  I was not afraid anymore.  I learned a turtle has stamina like no other and an endless endurance that is amazing.  You see, sometimes, it doesn't matter how fast or slow you are going at something as long as you are taking the steps to get there.  On a spiritual level, I will share that I often like to create my own crazy-push-me-to-the-limit time frame and someone from above has a completely different schedule for me.  Lesson learned so many times but I keep trying to do it my way far too many times.  It's draining and defeating!

What I am sharing with you today is that we in no way should be discouraged when we don't reach the goals we are pushing for at the deadline we desire.  It happens!  Reevaluate the deadline dates and recreate your plan.  There is no need to stop working toward what it is you want so badly.  If you want it bad enough, you will do what you have to do to get there, right?  Just like the turtle; sooner or later no matter how long he keeps slowwwwwwly moving forward, he will find water and take that refreshing swim he has been longing for!  Why?  Because he just kept putting one foot in front of the other.  Because he kept his goal in sight, right in front of him.  He wanted it bad enough that he didn't let anything stop him.

Don't get discouraged this month.  Enjoy the journey!  Keep moving forward.  Set those goals, make those plans.  Strive for the things that are so important to you and like I so often say at Dedicated 2 Life, "Make Life Happen!'

Have a fantastic week everyone and please, like I always say, do keep in touch.  Share a comment to share your personal thoughts and growth for myself and others.  We love to grow together!  What are you going to be doing over the next couple weeks to get it done, even if it means doing it slowwwly like the amazingly awesome turtle?

I couldn't agree with you more, Lisa! For many years; my thoughts and actions were bouncing around like an Olympic yo-yo team. It took a lot of soul searching for me as well, but I have also come to have great respect for the slower pace that has led to greater productivity! I still hold onto the same dreams that keep me motivated; but I have found contentment in taking the many small steps that lead to those dreams. Thanks for the inspiration, and Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!

Hi Irish! This is very inspirational, and the perfect time of year to share! I was just thinking about being behind on returning blog comments from my weekend party, but there's no emergency...I'll get to it. Just hopefully before this weekend rolls around lol.

Slowing down is always a challenge for me but I keep being reminded that I'm supposed to be walking in the Spirit and that's not about my pace its about HIS! Thanks for reminding me who made the turtle!

That was written so beautifully Helene. Yes, we need to learn to walking in the spirit at his pace. Lesson well needed. = )
